Write sample IDs such as 001 into XLSX text cells. The steps below follow generated sample files through the working FileToast tools. The screenshots come from those runs, so they show the controls and downloads used for this example.
Before you start
Keep the original input. Work on a copy when page order, identifiers, or formatting matter. All steps in this walkthrough use browser-local processing. File contents do not need to be uploaded to FileToast. The example is intended to make the settings easy to follow; it is not a promise that every complex document will behave identically.
CSV to Excel
- Open CSV to Excel. Choose sample-records.csv. These are generated demonstration files, not customer records.
- Review the selected inputs and set the controls shown below. Use the screenshot to match the example, rather than assuming a default setting is unchanged.
- Choose CSV to Excel to run the operation locally in the browser.
- Download the output and inspect it. For datasets, check the header, a few complete records, and identifiers that might be interpreted as numbers.
What the result looked like
The XLSX output opened successfully and contained 1 worksheet, with 7 populated rows in the first sheet. The download was named filetoast-data.xlsx and measured approximately 6 KB. Different input files can produce different sizes and layouts.
Checks that matter for this task
Cells are written as text to preserve identifiers and prevent formula execution. Numeric calculations may require converting cells to numbers in Excel.
Compare complete rows, not just the number of records. CSV output cannot preserve workbook formatting or cell types.
Try the tools
CSV to Excel. For another task, return to the FileToast tool directory.
